Welcome Coach Ashley

1) When did you start CrossFit?

I started CrossFit in May of 2014. I had just finished college and was looking for a way to stay in shape. I’d played team sports my whole life and CrossFit seemed like the perfect community to join! While new to coaching CrossFit, I have coached volleyball at both Portsmouth and Oyster River High Schools and assisted the Women’s Club team at UNH.

2) What degrees/certifications do you hold?

I studied psychology at UNH and got my Masters in elementary education. I work as a preschool teacher now and I’m also a team member for VoyEdgeRx. Also, a fun fact about me is that I’m a triplet 🙂

3) What’s your athletic background?

I have always been involved in athletics. When I was younger I did gymnastics and played softball. Right before entering Portsmouth High School, I had to quit gymnastics but stuck with softball and volleyball until the end of college, where I played club at UNH. To this day I still love playing and learning new sports, especially dodgeball. I actually still play basketball and volleyball in a local recreational league.

4) What’s your favorite & least favorite CrossFit movement and WOD?

Favorite movements: Handstand walks and TTB

Least favorite movements: Ring Muscle Ups and Running

5) What’s your favorite thing to do outside the gym?

I love to be outside, and I love to try new things. So whether that is hiking, traveling, visiting a trampoline park, or kayaking, I am always up for an adventure.

6) What excites you the most about coaching at The Port?

I’m excited to coach at The Port because of the commitment and dedication I see from so many people who walk through the doors. Not only do people want to come in here and get better, be healthier, and learn new skills, but they do it with a positive attitude, an investment in this wonderful community, and tons of smiles. A coach couldn’t ask for a better group of people!
